Week 7 Game Week Discussion Thread

Wil Vincent

Week 7? Already?!?!?

If Week 6 was anything to go by, conference play across the entire FBS is living up to the hype.

We saw #1 Texas lose in the neutral site Red River Rivalry game,
National Champions Indiana be forced to make a 4^thQuarter comeback,
There was some 'mild controversy' towards the end of the Top 10 showdown between Georgia and Alabama,
Kentucky continue to be clutch when it matters,
UMass broke the hearts of the entire CFB Nation,
Missouri look strong as the 'Dark Lord' continues to rise,
The two B1G California teams seem to have found a rhythm,
BYU continue to look strong (And get Gameday to boot)...
...And a weather delay meant that coverage of the week ended around 7:30AM... I've had no sleep.

Week 7 has another amazing slate of games, with many eyes looking on the B1G's showdown with Ohio State travelling to Bloomington to take on Indiana. IF Indiana win, they tie the B1G CFP Era consecutive win streak, which is currently held by Ohio State, and whoever wins this may as well start booking tickets for the B1G Championship game at Lucas Oil Stadium. The SEC has Ole Miss hosting Missouri, whilst Alabama go on the road hoping to avenge their loss against Georgia.

The biggest game in the XII only features one XII team, as BYU host Notre Dame in ' Catholics vs Mormons'. Ever since the news broke that BYU would be hosting College Gameday for the first time since 2009, the memes of having the Pope and the head of the Church of Latter Day Saints as guest pickers! ^{(Following news that Pope Leo's having surgery this week, I've decided to take the image down out of respect)}

The ACC has a couple of really interesting games, such as Virginia Tech hosting a Georgia Tech team with Mendoza the Younger seemingly hitting his stride, as well as UNC on the road at Duke.

Chat, meme, debate, discuss. This is the part of the season where things can still get shaken up before the College Football committee get locked in a hotel conference room for the first time (That's early November), so if you want to mark a week for potential chaos and mayhem... This may be your week!

Notes

Links to the AP and Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the week will be added once available.
This Week's Pick'Em is open for business. You can choose as many games as you want, you are not confined to the entire list of 59 games for this week.
Similarly, This Week's UK:CFC Confidence 10 Pick'Em is open for business. If you have no idea what this is, then there's a nice handy guide for you to explain everything. This week's games have a variety of T25 Matchups, closely matched teams, and a curveball. Because why not!
Links to TV viewing for games will be added once available. As mentioned previously, AAW Network have been producing their own guide, including the week that I was off ill, and rather than try to replicate the wheel, I'll just link to that as it's easier and will hopefully lead to less confusion / errors.
Please remember the policy on NOT sharing non-authorised live streaming of games.
1. Adding HIGHLIGHTS of already completed games is fine, as the NCAA / TV Networks don't seem to mind, and some schools post their own content anyway.
2. ESPN, FOX, CBS etc normally post full highlights by Monday Morning. Clip highlights before that.
Finally, please remember, rivalry talk is great. Clearly hateful / person bashing (Especially fellow forum users) is not. Be Kind! :

*Note:* In the event of tied points between participants, the participant(s) with the closest correct answer to total number of points scored in featured game will be awarded the higher position (This week Georgia @ Alabama)

As it pertains to the tie-breaker, Mark was +7 points off the total points scored in the Georgia @ Alabama game. Wil Vincent was +31 points off. A total of 37 points were scored in the game.

And on that note, please begin! 😆

AP And Coaches poll added.

I've included those not in the Top 25, but whom have received votes in their respective tables as whilst for TV and prestige I get the point of limiting it to a Top 25, the other teams receiving votes is something one can keep in their back pocket to see the sense of travel of a team, especially in the Group of 6 where of course the highest ranked conference champion will get a playoff berth.

Stats can be both useless and useful at the same time. It's all about the context.

It's not a Monday without SEC Shorts. A bit of a 'meh' episode considering everything, but considering everything it would have been hard to cram everything in otherwise I guess!

And of course, where there is SEC Shorts, there's SEC Roll Call, which had a pretty good episode this week:

Some B1G Highlights

Remember, most conferences put out their own highlights the day or so after the game, with networks posting their own set of highlights for things on their channels.

USC @ Penn State (White-out game, white noise atmosphere)

Indiana @ Nebraska (Look Mom, we're undefeated too!)

UCLA @ Oregon (Who's our QB this play? Game)

Illinois @ Michigan State (We play as well you know...)

Minnesota @ Purdue (Just, please. Don't whack the Gopher).

I mean, where's Pimp Vandy to help boost his spirits when you need him?

I missed this because I chose sleep over paying attention. Remember. Paying attention is more important

If I were to have had to have written a review of this week, this may as well have been how it would have read.
