Yes. This was my stupid idea. Yes, I know I'm an idiot. Moving on.
Hi. I'm Wil. Born in Camden London, raised in Milton Keynes, back to London, then to Lancaster, then Birmingham where I lived for 12 years, then to Dudley... Where I live on the outskirts of today.
I've been doing web 'stuff' since I was able to get on the internet, after learning BASIC when I was 6 years old. I'm more of a tinkerer than a bleeding edge coder, but know my way around a server, a set of coding languages and so on. Once upon a time I forked and published my own 'very' basic CMS software, and have pretty much grown up using Wordpress, phpBB, Joomla and so on. I've been looking at this forum software for years, and it's just about at the right stage when I can use it in an actual project.
It may be 2026, and I may be presenting as an Indiana Hoosier's fan AKA a 'Glory Hunter', but my roots to the Indianapolis state go back a long, long way. See Milton Keynes has had two 'sets' of Formula 1 teams over the years. Stewart Ford, which became Jaguar, which then became Red Bull, and also Arrows. When was growing up, both were... Bad. There however was this kid from a village up the road called Dan Wheldon who was making some waves in the US 'version' of Formula 1, which by 2004/5 was the Indy Racing League / IndyCar. He would win the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and 2005 IndyCar championship, which was a perfect time to do so ad there was some 'issues' between NTL / Virgin Media (Who had an almost monopoly in MK), and Sky, who pulled Sky One, and had to replace it with something else, giving us Sky Sports 3, which had WWE and... IndyCar.
Dan Wheldon won the 2011 Indianapolis 500 before dying later that year in a crash I can not even begin to explain. Around this time I had gotten into Sim Racing and Sim Racing broadcasts, did a memorial race broadcast, shared some stories, made some friends, and a few months later, was in Indianapolis, watching the 500. I went for a good 6 years before. Politics. On a global scale... Also, I was diagnosed with T1 Diabetes, and the people making my first batch of insulin, Lilly diabetes. Based in... Indiana. So I have a legitimate reason for being a Hoosier. I'm 'technically' an 'Adopted Hoosier', and whilst I could have been a 'Big Drum Guy', or 'Find 39243085 excuses not to join a conference' guy. The latter even more so due to the fact that [RELIGIOUS TALK REDACTED]. But it was the Hoosiers that stuck with me. I'm also a Colts Fan, Pacers Fan, and Blue Jays fan. As Indianapolis doesn't have an MLB team. Oh. I've also covered more 'virtual' Indianapolis 500 mile races than anyone out there. Ever.
My biggest claim to fame may be the work I did with Porsche and BMW in the late 2010s, culminating in producing and directing the 'virtual' Porsche Tag Heuer Supercup. I also did some work with Verizon in COVID, getting more streams and views with a production with Team Penske drivers for Verizon's 'Pay it Forward' campaign than Alicia Keys. I'll take that. I'm also a 'retired' university lecturer, hoping to one day finish my PH.D. I've also written the first part of my life down as a book, which you can find more out about here. (Ask nicely and I'll send you the Ebook for nothing).
2026? Aside from this 'thing', I'm watching as many CFB games as possible. I'm at 91 games as of the 19th September, and am live blogging the whole decent into madness. .
Oh. I also have 12 tattoos.
