Look. I understand. Rules are boring, restrictive, and can be a barrier to a bit of fun. But they exist to make this community inclusive for everyone, ensuring that people have the right to freedom of expression, without defending into chaos.
Alongside the Global Rules for this website, there are a few things which are more specific to discussion, debate and so on in this 'General Discussion' realm. Some are obvious, some are to prevent lawyers sending nasty letters that will likely arrive 2 weeks after a response was due. Some hopefully will make things calm and pleasant for all of us.
1. Treat this space as the Sunday Dinner table, meeting your other half's parents for the first time.
In short, no politics, no religion, no racism, sexism, xenophobia etc. Nothing that would cause a row before the Viennetta gets served up.
2. Nothing that belongs elsewhere on this site.
At least 4.5 minutes was spent trying to get a sense of structure and semblance around here. If it's College Football related, there's likely a place elsewhere for it already. If it's to do with a podcast, video series, latest Stephen A Smith / Paul Finebaum rant or so on, there's likely also a place for it. Like unattended luggage, your post / thread may be moved, merged or destroyed without warning.
3. Nothing that would cause a copyright strike on YouTube / Other streaming platform.
Look, we're not as restrictive as the NFL banning their copyright video being posted on other websites, but the last thing this place needs is becoming a safe haven for dodgy websites for watching sports, where the providers may or may not steal your credit card information and sell it on whatever Silk Road is these days. It doesn't matter if it's American Sports related, some other sport, or catching up on John Oliver's Last Week Tonight without a Now TV subscription. It messes up with the Google ratings, is verging on morally unacceptable, and makes us out to be a bunch of pirates. And we should only be the Mike Leach type of pirates.
4. Would you be happy showing this to your teenage son, daughter, niece, nephew, Labrador etc?
This isn't 4Chan / Reddit for trolling, meme, slightly chaotic posts that verge on encouraging law breaking and disobedience outside of the civil sense. We do not condone encouraging people to eat Tide pods, sharing videos of stupid TikTok trends, or things unsuitable for a teenage audience. There may be kids here, and the legal limit for using discussion forums is 13, not 16 like the Social Media ban. If you think something may be getting too close to the line, you can always use the Spoiler tag like so.
It's 2026, and it may be safe to say Texas are back... Don't tell them though.
5. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice. It may change their life.
I do actually have this tattooed and on my wall, and in a world where we can all be a bit negative, please... Try and find something nice to say if possible. I personally enjoy writing all my insults and jabs into a notes app, so that I can go back to it down the line and think that 'Perhaps that's better saved for another day...
Though, that being said...
5.1. Don't be a creep / pervert / stalker.
Please remember that if I really have to, I can search through a database, and send evidence to the glorious powers that be that will have a timestamped moment of when you sent someone that **** pic, or were perhaps a little bit too suggestive. Or whatever. And I really don't want to be spending my evenings sorting through such communication. It's boring. And even worse, I can't even make sarcastic comments back to you.
There may be times when people suggest meet-ups, gatherings, WhatsApp groups, watchalongs and the like. We are after all human beings, and we occasionally like enjoying this silly sport with others. That being said, people don't really like being stalked and creeped out. Just... Think.
FINAL WORD: BE RIVALS, BUT BE KIND.
